If you want to find out more about this feature, please see the in depth article about the climate pledge rating on our help center. The analysis is made in a collaborative approach of the Technical University Berlin and Ecosia, evaluating the most-searched companies on. To make the rating clear, we have given each response a grade on a scale of A–F, which you can see next to your search results. The rating takes into account the credibility and ambition of these pledges, and their implications for global warming. This rating shows our evaluation of a company’s publicly available response to the climate crisis, such as a pledge to reduce or offset emissions.

In addition to this, we’re drawing on data by the Climate Accountability Institute and The Guardian to highlight the world’s most destructive fossil fuel companies. It's the world's most comprehensive list. The Global Coal Exit List, compiled by our friends at Urgewald, highlights 746 companies that mine and transport coal, supply mining machines, search for new mines, or sell dirty energy. This feature relies on credible external data sources. Organizations highlighted with the fossil fuel icon are companies which are still promoting the expansion of coal mining. Organizatios with the green leaf must have an accredition of one of the listed organizations. Bundesverband Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften e.V.Our current data set contains information from these organizations: We do not pick each organization that gets a green leaf ourselves. Their sole purpose is to help you make smarter, more sustainable choices.

Organizations highlighted with the green leaf aren't ads or paid results. We make it easier for you to be climate active while navigating the many claims made by governments and companies around the world. Based on this data, we then offset this carbon creation through buying ‘tree bundles’ through Ecosia. Our mission at Ecosia is not just about enabling you to plant trees with your searches - it’s about helping you make more informed decisions for the climate in your everyday life.
Ecosia country how to#
Understanding how to do this is quite a challenge and the count is more of an estimate than a detailed analysis, but below you can see how we worked out where our guests travelled from, how they travelled to and from the camp and therefore how much carbon they created doing that. We promise to offset any travel by any guest to our camp through tree planting.
Ecosia country series#
The Safari Series also tries to be as carbon-neutral as possible. Our searches have helped to push this total up! Ecosia reports that they fund an average of 75 trees per minute - from the revenue it makes from advertising.

Over the year it is fun to watch the count grow to over 166,000,000 trees. When we began using Ecosia 12 months ago, Ecosia had just planted 150,000,000 trees. Ecosia is B-Cop certified, meaning it meets all the high standards linked to sustainability, accountability and performance.Īs an office, The Safari Series has been using Ecosia (instead of Google or any other search engine) since Jan 2022 and in that time our searches (across 3 computers) have planted over 1,500 trees! Each tree has to be over 3 years old to count in Ecosia’s tally, meaning there is no ‘planting without care’. Ecosia considers itself a social business and is carbon-negative (meaning it offsets more carbon than in creates) and this is fully supported by their excellent monthly financial reports.

Have you heard of Ecosia? Maybe you are a Google fan… But our office recently moved to the search engine, Ecosia, and have never looked back! We highly recommend learning more about Ecosia and what they do.Įcosia is a search engine that is based in Berlin, Germany.
